Our History

Community First
Yusuf Tayeb was born on February 11, 1935, in British ruled India. A charismatic individual from an entrepreneurial family, he was raised with a deep respect for hard work and an unwavering commitment to quality. Mr. Tayeb came to Dubai, U.A.E. in the 1960’s and launched National Aquarium, a pet retailer in Dubai’s Old Gold Souk. In 1974, Yusuf Tayeb married Mehrunnisa. Together they built a life dedicated to family and community. To continue his father Tayeb Jan Mohammed’s vision, a renowned precious metals investor and philanthropist, Yusuf Tayeb launched Nadia Jewellers in 1982.

In 2002, Suhail Tayeb, Yusuf Tayeb’s eldest son, established the Tayeb Family Fund after the passing of his father. The fund continues to nurture and strengthen their ties to the communities globally. As outlined in the original bylaws, they intended that the fund should promote: the health, welfare and happiness of school-age children; the advancement and diffusion of knowledge; activities for the improvement of public health; and advancement of social welfare. These purposes were based on a family resolve to help people and enhance quality of life. More than 14 years after his passing, Yusuf Tayeb’s legacy lives on.
